Teaching Families About Our Waterways

Waterkeeper conducted outreach to the Ready Fresh employees of Los Angeles to educate them on water stewardship and to let them know what a difference their colleagues have made on waterways through the Crest to Coast project!

Key Ready Fresh employees invited us to participate in their company open house on July 9th. With over 500 participants in attendance, we were able to share with the workers and their families the work Waterkeeper does to protect water quality in the Upper Santa Ana Watershed and how their partners, Arrowhead Brand Mountain Spring Water have made a difference in the waterways and the communities which they live and work in. Many visitors were surprised to hear how together we removed over 28,000 pounds of trash from waters within the watershed and many signed up for the upcoming Huntington Beach cleanup. Participants were also proud to hear how Arrowhead donated $3,000 to send over 20 children on scholarships to Rivercamp this year!

We taught them what a watershed is and how our everyday actions can affect inland waters which will eventually pollute the ocean which we play in. They also designed their own recycled water bottle feeders while others planted their own native plants!

Thank you to Ready Fresh for inviting us to share the work we love so much with your company employees and their families!
