Our high school education program, River KATS: Kid
Activism Together with Science provided in-class
presentations & field trips to 4 different high school science
classes from 3 I.E. school districts! All visited the
OCWD Prado Wetlands. Many thanks to volunteers, OCWD staff
and SAWA staff! Photos are available

Hills Freeway |
| RCTC (Riverside
County Transportation Commission) is planning a new freeway between
San Jacinto and Corona that will impact the Gavilan Hills Plateau
and encourage development of this area. A website has been
created to keep us informed at, www.midcountyparkway.org
IEWK will follow this project closely and tell
you when comments can be

Inland Empire Waterkeeper (IEWK) is a grassroots nonprofit
water quality organization dedicated to enhancing and protecting the
Upper Santa Ana River Watershed through advocacy, education,
restoration and enforcement. We look forward
to working with concerned citizens like you to fulfill our

| Riverside Land Conservancy
Fundraiser |
|
On the evening of Feb. 11th, we were pleased to host
the Building Bridges to a Sustainable Future
fundraiser for the Riverside Land Conservancy in downtown
Riverside. Approx. 500 people attended to hear Governor
Schwarzenegger speak, and watch Supervisor Ashley, Conservancy Board
Member Jane Block and developer Ali Sahabi receive awards for their
contributions to the IE environment.

event!

County Water Symposium, 2008 |
Inland Empire Waterkeeper is proud to announce our
support and participation in the 5th Annual Riverside County Water
Symposium! As a co-host of the event we encourage all of you
to attend on Thursday, May 1 from 9am to
3pm at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa.
Non-profits should ask about the reduced ticket price.

Update |
1)  A
website containing 3 studies of the pumped-storage component is
available HERE.
2) The project proponent's "final"
Environmental Assessment for the transmission line & pumped
storage components prepared pursuant to CEQA, and submitted to the
CPUC for a second review on Feb. 8th available HERE. As a result, the
CPUC Pre-Hearing Conference has been delayed to give CPUC
staff time to resolve any deficiencies remaining in this second
version of the E.A., and to review additional or modified protests.
Any additional protests or comments on the project or E.A. must be
submitted by March 7. Details available HERE.
3) On Feb. 21st, San Diego Gas & Electric
submitted a data request, per the approval of the CPUC
administrative law judge, to Nevada Hydro to show how the Final
E.A. differs from the Draft E.A. submitted on 11/15/07, and to
provide all documents,
including workpapers, supporting all data or text that is newly
provided in Final PEA and or changed from the Draft to
Final PEA.
[LEAPS is the Lake Elsinore Advanced Pump Storage project
that is two-fold: hydroelectric dam above Lake Elsinore in the
Cleveland National Forest and 30-mile interconnect transmission line
